WHY WE COLLABORATE

Collaboration Is Core to the Mission.

Maine Mollusks L3C cannot protect coastal waters and bivalve heritage alone. Restoration science, aquaculture research, and community education depend on partnerships with regional research groups, nonprofits, and economic development organizations across Maine. These collaborations connect hands-on fieldwork in places like the Damariscotta River and Pemaquid with scientific research and funding support, strengthening the long-term health of Maine's shellfish ecosystems.

OUR PARTNERS

Working Alongside Maine's Leading Research and Development Organizations.

Downeast Institute

The Downeast Institute is a marine research and shellfish restoration organization. It supports scientific study of bivalves, hatchery research, and population restoration efforts that directly inform Maine Mollusks' fieldwork on species like surf clams, oysters, and mussels.

Coastal Enterprises, Inc.

Coastal Enterprises, Inc. supports economic development and sustainable aquaculture ventures in Maine. It helps shellfish aquaculture initiatives grow while keeping coastal communities and small-scale growers at the center of that work.
