MAINE MOLLUSKS L3C
Stewards of Maine's Coastal Waters.
Maine Mollusks L3C is a low-profit limited liability company dedicated to coastal water stewardship, ecological restoration, and protecting the marine heritage of Midcoast Maine.
OUR MISSION
A Mission Before a Margin.
Maine Mollusks L3C is a low-profit limited liability company — a legal structure that puts mission ahead of profit. Our work centers on bivalve education and shellfish aquaculture, restoring Maine habitats, and working with leading Scientific Institutions focusing on softshell clams, oysters, and mussels that sustain both coastal ecosystems and local livelihoods. Every program we run is designed to restore habitat, protect water quality, and keep Maine's marine heritage alive for the next generation.
THE WORK
Active on the Damariscotta River and Midcoast Maine.
Our fieldwork takes place along the Damariscotta River and in the entire Midcoast Area, where we grow and support shellfish aquaculture and bivalve restoration efforts firsthand. From monitoring water conditions to assisting with municipal reseeding, getting our hands muddy, this is where our mission turns into daily practice.
OUR PARTNERS
Working Alongside Maine's Marine Research Community.
We collaborate with regional organizations and research groups, including the Downeast Institute and Darling Marine Center, to advance shellfish aquaculture and bivalve research across Maine. These partnerships ground our work in sound science and shared commitment to the region's marine future.
